Risen...Bra/Dåligt?
Ok so yesterday I spent over 10 hours trying to finish this game rather quickly, probably missing alot.
BTW Risen is an RPG where you get stranded after your ship sank.
From the first step you take on the island you find yourself wanting to know more about where the hell you are. But you are so bad at fighting that you cant even kill a chicken in one blow. Still you venture forward.
Now I loved this game, its beautiful, the fighting system is great when you get a hang of it(really annoying when you start out for the first time). It is a real keeper, up until the character actually is so good that he doesent have to fear any beaast or man, now this part of the game is stressful, irritatingly short, I mean one of the locations as to find thoose last five pieces is just kill two lisards and one undead monkeybrain, then its up for grabs.
(SPOILER ALERT)And now the thing that made me want to throw this game to hell, the ending, you get the armor, fine, it was a small adventure and now you will fight a titan(worthless titan if you ask me, demon, phoenix, Fire Mana, anything is better then titan. In Greek mythology where the titans come from describes them as GIANTS, how are we suppose to expect anything but a creature that is so big that I could fit in a small whole in one of their teeth, check "god of war" and you will know what I am talking about).
And yes, now that the character finally have gotten an armor that actually looks good, there is nothing left to kill, the saying that animals respawn after each chapter is a complete lie, they do not respawn, new ones arrive after the two first chapters but after the chapter 3 there isnt much left to kill if you arent suppose to go after humans.
Oh and yes, I was playing a mage, maybe it was just me missing out on many tablets or books or something but i didnt reach level 4 in rune magic until 20 seconds before the final boss, and the last magic to be had is some sad little firebased magic, it doesent look cool, it doesent kill instantly so why the hell do I want it? Again I must have missed something becouse noone is so stupid that they only give you one final magic spell to work your ass of for.
And now to end my complaining I will complain about the boss.
Maybe its just me but when you go through that gate, doesent it feel like the difficulty level just took a giant step up, the game suddenly became Zelda and his final fight(or any of them) but this char doesent do backflips or jump from side to side. Why was there no buildup for this fight, no fight before this could even be compared to it, then it was just hack and slash until they die.
and the most irritating part, there is no aftergaming, noone thanks you for saving their lives, noone praises you and kissses you feet, just a short movie where you go out the door. so for you people who made this game, please do a Risen 2, but do not make it like you rushed for an ending and please have a respawn of plants and animals, why give us the talent to make potions if we are just gonna run out on one of the main ingredients.
